Frequently Asked Questions
- If I am a subcontractor on a Large Project, do I still create my own tickets?
- a) No. Subcontractors work under the Large Project and do not create separate tickets. To access the project and associated tickets, they must be listed as a subcontractor on both the Large Project and the resulting tickets. If you cannot view the project or tickets, contact the General Contractor or project owner to ensure you have been properly added.
- Can there be multiple planning meetings and marking agreements for a Large Project?
- a) Yes. Large Projects may require multiple planning meetings and marking agreements as the project progresses or circumstances change. Each marking agreement must be preceded by a planning meeting.
- How are marking agreements established?
- a) Involved parties work together to determine marking dates and the scope of work for each phase of the project. The resulting marking agreement outlines how and when marking will be completed.
- How do I get access to see/enter Large Projects?
- a) You must have an active Exactix login, as login credentials may not be shared. If you do not have an account, you will need to register for one. Access to the Large Project section also requires completion of the required training. Once training is complete, your access will be updated by the next business day.
- What if I created a phase that no longer is needed. Can I cancel a phase if tickets have already been released for it?
- a) Yes. A phase can be cancelled at any time. If tickets have already been released for that phase, those tickets must also be cancelled. This can be accomplished by cancelling the associated marking agreement and updating the phase status to Cancelled, or by cancelling the ticket directly and then updating the phase status.
- If my subcontractor damages a facility, what steps should be taken?
- a) The same damage reporting process applies to Large Projects and standard tickets. If the damage results in an emergency, call 911 first. Then, in all cases, contact 811 to report the damage and notify the utility operator, if known. Never attempt to repair the damage or backfill the area. All damages must be reported, and covering up damage is a violation of the statute.
