Educating youth about calling 811 is essential in raising awareness about the importance of safe digging. One way we reach students is by giving safe digging presentations at elementary schools. Typically we give a brief presentation followed by an outdoor demo by an underground line locator and we plant a tree for the school. We also have safe digging badges for youth community service groups (Scouts, 4H, etc.) who complete a service project that requires calling 811 and digging.
If you have connections to an elementary school who would like a safe digging presentation and tree planting or a youth community service group who would like to complete a digging service project, please contact Charleigh at [email protected].
